The various species shown in this book are, for the most part, the abundant wildflower species of the tallgrass prairie, easy to see and easy to recognize. Not only do the species pictured display a large number of flowers during their blooming season, but there are usually a large number of specimens of each of these species in bloom. These, for the most part, are the species that give rise to that most prized tall grass prairie view, the ‘carpet of color.’
